The Evangelical Lutheran Community of Rio de Janeiro comemorates 180 years of existence in 2007. It was founded in 1827 as one of the first non-Roman Catholic churches in the city. The actual directory is: Carlos Daniel Pungartnik (President), Reinhard Braun (Vice-President), Mônica Gomes Vieira Ferreira (Secretary), Margret Elisabeth neé Brodhun Möller (Substitute), Rodolpho Georg (Tresurer), Werner Mohrstedt (Substitute), Almiro Wilbert (Member). Today it comprises approximately 1000 Lutheran families, distributed among 4 parishes:

Besides the regular services in Portuguese, there are services in German.
